Team Swine

On Thursday morning on October 8th Edge 09 went voyager canoeing. It was a very crisp morning, and we had to be at the school by 7:45 a.m. By the time my small group left it was about 8. 20! . Once we finally got to Fort Langley, we got split up into groups. I was in Cheryl's group she was so fun and was an awsome paddler, she was also very incuraging to my group which made the trip even better. We called ourselfs team swine hahah! Anyways we were pretty successful in keeping in a straight line and trying not to get any water in our boat. Once everyone was in their canoes and ready to go, a native man which i cant remember his name came and expressed his culture with a breif summary and a song which i found pretty cool. we slowly all drifted awayfrom the dock, then everyone got started. Since our leader was from the Langley canoe club we had to stay behind unfortunatly which really sucked at times, but eventually we all met up but the Fort-to-Fort trail and saw some erosion. After that we started paddling our way to the lunch spot, and again we could not get our boat stuck in the sand, it took us a very long time just to get out the boat... but once we got out lunchs everyone was very satisfied:). When everyone was done lunch a man involved with the fisheries aka Quadzilla came and talked to us about the salmon. If you were there you would know why we would call him that...hahahahah, after the inspiring talk we got back to the river. We were one of the last groups to leave but by the time we were going going a good pase we seemed to the meet point where everyone was. We had a pretty good start unlike Steads team who cheated.... but eventually we caught up. The race was neck and neck with our team and steads, but unfortunatly we got 2nd. When we got back to the dock I helped bring some of the canoes to where they were supose to be. Wow those things were heavy! After we were unpacked, we headed back to the school and got to go home:). It was a very interesting trip... I would definitely not do it again because it was probably one of the hardest things ive done.

Garibaldi:)

As we walked up the mountain i could feel the fresh air the crisp, clean brilliant air:) The senseation of the trees and the whistles of the birds. "Garibaldi here we come" everyone chanted. Everyone full of excitement hiked up the steep hills and up that mountain. I was in Proznicks group hiking up which was sweet! It took us about 5 hours to go up those crazy switch backs and then we were finally there, the beautiful breath taking GARIBALDI. The land and the water was unbelievable in fact it was beautiful unlike anything we had ever seen before. Still in shock Sarah, Naomi and me set up our tents which was quite the challenge. Luckly once we were finished the weather changed to rain which then in 3 hours turned to 2 feet of snow..which sucked and half way through the night out tent colapsed.. which meant we had to sleep in shelter number 2. At first we hated the fact we had to spend the night with 8 other girls and a possiblity of sleeping with rats! But in the end we had such a great sleep compared to the others in tents MUHAHAH. The cooking situation ended up being successful and me and Alex Margetson were cooking buddies:) The food i brought up was pretty desent. Day 2 ended up being a drag though..we were all supose to go hiking but since we were snowed in it would be imposible:( instead we ended up going to classes in all 4 shelters which wasnt had but was a big bummer. To end the day off all the guys and some girls all joined in, in a huge snowball fight.. HAHA i hid behind larry the whole time:). Everyone had a bedtime of 9 and unfortunatly it was our last night:(We all had to be up by 7 30 a.m. and packed fed and ready for our hike home by 10 30 a.m. We left the sight at 11 a.m. so Stead wasnt to pleased but the hike home was so fun. Brayden Goodman and I sungs songs such as If i could walk 500 miles, The Lion Kings theme song and random funny R&B songs all the way back down the mountain. Hiking down took about 2 hours for us all to get down and oh by what a memory.. I was sad on the drive home because i had such an awsome time but i was also releived to be back at home with my family. Im so stoked for what EDGE 09 has in store for me and im ready for the narly events..STOLEN FROM WILSON:) Thank you Twemlow, Proznick, Stead and Wilson.

The Comedy of Errors

It was a early start to the Tuesday morning, everyone had their eyes half closed and messy hair:P The bus ride was long but with a little catch-up on sleep it was all good. we got to Kitsilano around 9ish and right away we planned our exciting trip to Garabaldi :). We organized our tenting groups and in my group i have Naomi Cowie! and Sarah Hill, which should me a fun and interesting time:) luckily Naomi went on the Harrison hike so we have alot of supplies needed. Once we finished the boring stuff the teachers desided it would we sick if we went on a scavingure hunt which wax super fun! We all had to work together till the end and though it was hot most of us didnt give up.. Im not sure what our time was or what place we got, but its was a good time. Luckily we got a break and went for lunch. Naomi, Kota and I went to a sushi place 3 blocks away. I ordered a yam tempura roll but i think the burnt it... we all didnt have the greatest sushi of our lives but it would be a good memery by the end of the year:) Once we got back we went to the play The Comedy or errors! I sat beside Gerrad Freill and Naomi:) The play was so funny even though i could hardly understand it. After the play our Edge group went home. The traffic was so bad because it was rush hour but no one seemed to notice because everyone had such a great day. We got home around 5. The comedy or errors ended up being an awsome first trip of Edge thanks teachers for such an awsome time:)
